Turmeric = Taste + Health.


India is well-known for it's diverse food. Indian food is very speedily becoming favourite all over the world. Just like diversity in religion,language and people there is diversity in food. Indian people use lot of spices in their daily cooking. This spices gives the food nice odour,colour and taste. Now the researches have also found the benefits of this spices. In addition to give yummy flavour this spices are really help full to the health. West is also now realizing this fact.
One of the important ingredient in the Indian food is curry powder which consists of turmeric. It is a yellow color powder used for mainly giving a nice colour and odour in food. Apart from this the turmeric also has some interesting benefits.
Wondering what can turmeric do?
1. Anti-oxidant:- The active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin.
Recent studies shows that curcumin has ability to prevent the oxidative damage to heart cells, blood vessels,kidney cells and liver cells. This means that use of turmeric can actually help you live longer.
2. Wound healing:- In India turmeric is used as home remedy for wounds since many decades. It shows wonderful effects in healing the wounds. It is now approved by the medical science too. Curcumin accelerates the healing process.
3. Cancer Prevention:- Animal models have demonstrated a protective effect of curcumin for a wide range of cancers including colorectal, stomach, skin, oral and liver.
4. Throat infection:- Many people in India use turmeric for throat infection. I myself have tried it and it really works. Whenever I get cold I mix turmeric with jaggery and ghee and make small balls and eat this small yellow balls at regular intervals. You can also mix it in luke warm milk and drink it. If you don't mind the taste then eat a spoon of turmeric. This surely helps in reducing the throat pain.
Thus you can say that Indian food is indeed good!!

Small Cuts big Infections!


In this fast running world minor injuries in our day to day life are quite common. Children bring cuts and burns to home after their daily game. Housewives often cut fingers while their husband in hurry to run to office. In this situations we always consider these things as very minor and neglect it. We do not consider going to hospital for such small instances. But we should keep few things in mind while doing this. Whenever there is a cut in the body it works like an open door for bacteria to enter. If proper care is not taken then the so-called minor injury turns out to be a huge infection. Generally people are not totally aware of the consequences resulting in ignorance.
Lets understand this thing by a common incidence. Assume that you are preparing breakfast. Everyone is hungry and eager to run away. In this haste situation you try your best to cope up. And doing so you often cut your finger. This will cause some bleeding. Without thinking anything you clean it up with the first cloth you find near you. After this you wash the blood from your hand. Sometimes tie some cloth to it and that's all. You remove it in sometime and continue your work again. Whenever you undergo this things you do not realize how many bacteria you invite in your body.
Was the cloth used by you clean?? Does the water you used to clean wound actually cleaned up your wound?? Is it enough to this small injury??
Certainly you did not think of this at all. You should always keep in mind that the cloth that you are using should be very clean. Even a clean cloth is risky because it may look neat but you never know how many bacteria resides there. It is a good idea to keep some sterile cotton at home. Always use sterile things to deal with the cuts and wounds. Now many people know that cleaning the blood is good thing but they don't know how to clean it up. Tap water contains a lot of bacteria which can easily enter your body through that wound. So if you want to use water then again use sterile water. Again using some antiseptic for cleaning is always good. At last cover it properly with some bandage. Don't leave the wound open till it is completely healed. Lot of bacteria from air to may spoil the situation.
It is said that bleeding from small capillaries or very small arteries can clot faster in cold temperature. So now you realize if you do not care enough then the minor cut may turn into major infection. It is safe to have a small first aid kit with you. Which may include things like clean cotton, antiseptics, savlon, betadine, soframicine, bandages, few pain killers and other necessary things. You can consult your doctor for the proper kit. Moreover always check the expiry date for the things that you keep with.

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH
